When doing pay-per-click we always ask if there are certain keyword that just generate browsers, and not buyers. There are always keywords that are more general and supply more visitors (which means you pay more) and then there are the more specific keywords that get less, but more targeted visitors. So... getting to my question, Is there any way to track the keyword that was searched to a final buyer who fills out the payment form.
I know you can track clicks from keywords, but is there a way to tie those keywords to a buyer?
With that kind of information, you could see if you are getting your moneys worth, keyword by keyword.
Thanks! |

| I'm not sure about an answer to your question, I don't think it's possible, but I do know that if you, if you can, list your product/service price in your PPC listing you'll potentially eliminate those clickthroughs from people not planning on spending that amount money... |

YES! when creating PPC campaigns you want to be as specific as possible, because traffic is not the goal, sales is the goal. You want to only pay for traffic that will convert. For example, if you are selling cars, DO NOT bid on general keywords like "cars". Bid on specific things like "1969 ford mustang" this will get your site people who really want to be there.

yes. This is handled through a properly designed website that uses cookies and sessions to track users. I have a shop that is designed to do that - each referrer has their own session and can be tracked through the entire website. http://shop.netpaths.net/
There are also other 3rd party programs that can do this. |
