Hi... I'm new to a lot of this SEO stuff. I understand some of the basics, but I've got a few burning questions.

One of them is this:

I've recently added some new content and optimization to one of my pages [url]http://www.theexcuse.com/merchandise/[/url], and i've noticed that it's been indexed and updated. I added the info in the last week or two, and I'm 99% positive that there has been no google-dancing since then.

Does the mighty Google update between dances? and if so, what's so special about the dance?

Google does update between the dance, it is called the Freshbot. It crawls already indexed pages from the previous deep crawl, and refreshes their content.

The dance is special because that is when Google makes changes to their algorithm, and when your pagerank gets updated from the previous deepcrawl. This is when you usually see rankings move around the most.

There are some changes between montly dances, and this is called 'everflux' rankings shuffle around a little, usually imperceptibly. The freshbot that hits sites several times a month can be attributed to this.

If your site has a good ranking and you constantly update content you are a good candidate for being crawled more often and possibly get better results from the everflux
