We all know about the Google sandbox, where your links lie for months until Google finally decides to apply them to your ranking, but from what I understand that only happens if you get a large quantity of links at a time.
Is there a known "safety limit" on how many links to add per day to avoid getting thrown into the sandbox? |

The main thing to consider is that you need to build links as if they were naturally being added by the other sites... sites generally tend to link to people a few at a time per month.
We've had no problem gaining as many as 40 per month to some sites but feel that's really, really pushing the limit. I would really suggest never getting more than about 25/month.
Google also does state to never have more than 100 links on an individual page, this includes your internal links and remember keep your links related to the theme of your site. |

| yes - keep minimum links per page. I personally have seen no evidence of downgrading from acquiring too many links too fast, however i do believe search engines can ascertain quality links with high precision and many recip links are filtered out of the ranking algorithm. |
